  • Anesthesiology
The branch of medicine specializing in the use of drugs or other agents that cause insensibility to pain. Anesthesiology may also be defined as continuity of patient care involving preoperative evaluation, intraoperative and postoperative care and the management of systems and personnel that support these activities. The subspecialities within anesthesiology include  cardiothoracic anesthesiology, critical care, neuroanesthesia, obstetrical anesthesiology, pain management, pediatric  anesthesiology, and ambulatory anesthesia.
  • Family Practice

The medical specialty which provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family. It is the specialty in breadth which integrates the biological, clinical, and behavioral sciences. The scope of family practice encompasses all ages, both sexes, each organ system, and every disease entity. (From the American Academy of Family Physicians)

  • Orthopaedics
The branch of surgery broadly concerned with the skeletal system (bones).  The term orthopaedics when it was composed goes back to its roots: ortho-, straight + the Greek paes, child = the practice, literally, of straightening the child. If the child had a crooked spine (scoliosis), it was the job of the orthopaedist to straighten the child.

  • Pediatrics

The branch of medicine dedicated to the attainment of the best physical, emotional, and social health for infants, children, and young people generally. Pediatrics became a specialty in 1930 when the American Academy of Pediatrics was founded with the idea that children have special developmental and health-care needs. Pediatricians devote much of their time to regular health examinations, as well as to preventive medicine and health practices. They routinely immunize children against such infectious diseases as influenza, meningitis, measles, mumps, and chicken pox. In addition to their immediate health-care duties, pediatricians act as advocates for children in endorsing public education, access to health care, and services to children.
